I’ve finished the scarf I was telling you about in my last entry and I’ve convinced my mother to model it so I could take some pictures to post in here so you could see how it looked like.

Ya estoy dándole los últimos toques a mi primer proyecto de este año que justito acabamos de empezar. Se trata de una bufanda tejida con una combinacion de punto bajo y punto alto con un reborde a medio punto alto para la que he usado lana Kauni 8/2 Effects de la gama EA (según referencia de la casa) y un patron de creación mía que publicaré en cuanto vea como queda llevado a la práctica. De momento y para abrir boca, aqui teneis un adelanto de como va surgiendo…

I’m almost done with my first project of this new year we’ve just started. It’s a scarf stitched with a combination of single an/d double crochet with a half double corchet edging for wich I used Kauni 8/2 Effects yarn in EA colour range (acording to the manufacturer’s reference code) and a pattern created by me that I’ll publish as soon as I finish with the project and see how it looks all done. But before this happens, here’s the scarf in progress……

Carlos es un niño de seis años que padece adrenoleucodistrofia y su unica posibilidad de tratamiento consiste en un procedimiento que sólo puede realizarse en Estados Unidos a un precio muy elevado (700.000 euros) y que no cubre la Seguridad Social por lo que apelan a la buena voluntad de las personas para poder reunir esta cantidad ya que para una familia trabajadora es muy dificil de asumir.

My friend Aurora has asked me to share the story of Carlos, the son of one coworker of her husband Miguel, because they need all the help the can get.

Carlos is a 6 year old kid suffering from adrenoleukodistrophy and the only way they can at least slow down the desease is by means of a very expensive medical procedure (700,000 euros) only performed in the United States that the Spanish Social Security (the socialized medicine system in Spain) doesn’t cover. They’re unable to get the money needed so they’re asking goodwill people to contribute with whatever they can.

Acabo de llegar a casa de recoger en la oficina de correos el paquete de Debra, mi swappee del grupo de Ravelry The Black Yarn Swap, y me ha faltado tiempo para abrirlo. He de decir que es uno de los más bonitos que he recibido y ahora os explico que es lo que traia:

- 6 madejas de Classic Elite Lagran Mohair, suficientes para tejer un chal Serafina.

- Un ganchillo del número 8 hecho a mano en hueso por el marido de Debra, BD, juntamente con su funda tejida tambien a mano. Quiero darle las gracias a BD por haberse tomado el tiempo para hacerme un ganchillo que es una autentica preciosidad.

- Una bufanda roja con cables. Es de la medida y el color ideales, pena que sea invierno y no la pueda estrenar todavia….

- Altoids y Jolly Ranchers que son unos caramelos que solia comer cuando vivia en Estados Unidos y que no habia vuelto a probar.

- Un colgante para el móvil en forma de ovejita negra con un trebol de cuatro hojas en el lomo

- Un paquete de té de lavanda.

- Un marcavueltas con una calaverita de color verde

- Una tarjeta muy divertida con ovejas en frente.

Just half an hour ago I found out why my knitting needles and I didn’t get on at all: simply because al the time I was trying to knit left-handed when I’m not a leftie at all. I tried and I tried and they kept slipping away and it was really frustrating to the point I was convinced knitting wasn’t for me.

And right now I’m enjoying myself a lot knitting row after row at supersonic speed. .. even though I thought the worst is yet to come with the name PURL in it ::)  Anyways, I’ll post pictures of it as it developes and I hope you’re not too bad to me with your comments

Hoy está siendo un buen día y me temo que la semana sera todavía aún mejor. Me encanta esta sensación….

Ayer sábado terminé la seguda bufanda de mi twin set y aquí las teneis a las dos en perfecto orden de revista

Para tejerlas empleé dos madejas de Malabrigo Merino Worsted compradas en All You Knit Is Love en colores Tigerlily (la de la izquierda) y Apple Green (la de la derecha) y un patrón que me inventé así sobre la marcha que subiré al blog en cuanto haya terminado de escribirlo.

Me ha dado un poco de pena terminarlas, la verdad. Es una auténtica delicia trabajar esta lana porque tiene un tacto soberbio y da un resultado excelente a la pieza acabada pero como dice el refran todo lo bueno al final se acaba. Suerte que en una semana es mi cumpleaños porque pienso hacer una excursión a cierta tienda que  conozco y volver a casa cargada

Yesterday I finished crochetting the second scarf of my scarf twin set and here you have a picture of the two of them showing off

I used two skeins of Malabrigo Merino Worsted in Tigerlily (left one) and Apple Green (right one)  that I bought at All You Knit is Love and a pattern I improvised and that I’ll post here when I’m done writting it.

I was a tad sad when I finished the two of them. It’s absolutely delightful to work with this yarn because it has a superb touch and gives the finished project an excelent appearence but as thdey say good things don’t last long . Luckily, my Birthday will be in a week’s time and I will make a trip to a certain yarn store and come back home with my bag full
